Nashville, Tenn. (RFD-TV) Cheryl Deseree and Ranger Doug from Riders in the Sky joined forces for this week’s #MusicMonday to bring a unique mash-up of classic country with a smoky jazz twist.
During the show, Cheryl sang an eclectic mix of songs, running the spectrum from country twang to sultry jazz, and revealing her wide range of influences, which include Cole Porter, The Mills Brothers, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Asleep at the Wheel, Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Ella Fitzgerald, and Harry Connick Jr, among many others.
Ranger Doug and Riders in the Sky have been touring and entertaining audiences for forty years. They are the only western group to have won two Grammys, one of which was for their album, “Woody’s Round-Up,” named after the title track and written for the hit movie “Toy Story 2.”
And it being the season that it is, at least one Christmas song was in order. This performance of Cheryl’s new single, “Warm in December,” provides a fitting taste of what this variety-filled show was like.
