The Bureau Of Land Management’s grazing program in the west is under fire.
A lawsuit filed by the Western Watersheds Project claims the Interior Department is keeping secrets about a grazing initiative announced back in 2017.
The suit alleges the program, which puts ranchers in charge of grazing, could be harmful to endangered species and habitat. The group asks the government to release information about the program in six states.
Western ranchers have long promoted their efforts to protect public lands, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service says areas with flourishing wildlife populations are often found in their present state because of grazing.
