There has been a growing interest in industrial hemp since the 2018 Farm Bill allowed all 50 states to build their own laws.
While infrastructure and market capacity continue to develop, producers look for guidance to navigate this new industry.
CBD Modular’s Chris Moorman speaks with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on how to start growing hemp, how hemp varies compared to other crops, and the future of the industry.
Moorman notes when starting out, “First thing to do is make sure you get your legal ducks in a row. This is a crop that most growers are not going to be familiar with and the licensing is pretty strict state-to-state... Second piece of that, unlike a lot of crops, hemp is actually photoperiod-dependent plant which means that plant is not in for a number of days, that plant is actually going to react to the amount of daylight hours available to it. So, it is really important to make sure you source genetics that make sense for your region and your latitude.”
