Agriculture groups are pleading with the U.S. Trade Representative to not leave the World Trade Organization.
Dozens of stakeholders sent a letter to Robert Lighthizer saying that the U.S. needs to secure its place in the global group.
President Trump has called the WTO incompetent in the past.
These stakeholders say that the only way it will be reformed is if the U.S. continues its membership. The letter calls for increased accountability.
Their request comes as the WTO seeks a new leader. The governing body is on round two of the process. Over the next few weeks they will whittle the list down from five, to two.
Climate change has been a big topic among the contenders. The group hopes to select the new Director General sometime in November.
