Britain to phase out fossil fuel cars by 2030

Britain will start to phase out cars that run on fossil fuels over the next decade.

Starting in 2030, auto manufacturers will not be permitted to make any new gasoline or diesel cars.

It is five years earlier than previously planned. Funds will come from the government, but private industries will be on the hook for most of it.

It is similar to California’s mandate and a measure introduced in Congress, which got some pushback from corn and soy producers. They say that it will lower the demand for ethanol.
