Biden administration will pay for farmers to plant cover crops

Conservation efforts in rural America are slated to be a key talking point as the Biden administration steps into office.

The President-elect says that Tom Vilsack will carry out the administration’s “rural plan” through his USDA leadership. The effort includes being the first country to achieve net-zero emissions.

The measure also aims to create new sources of farm income, by paying farmers to put their land in conservation and plant cover crops to capture carbon in the soil.
