A lawsuit against Smithfield Foods over product safety will not be tossed out of court.
The Organic Consumers Association accuses the company of false advertising by saying that it provides the safest U.S. products possible.
OCA says that consumers could be led to believe Smithfield far exceeds industry standards for food safety.
Smithfield asked a judge to dismiss the suit; the judge ruled the case can move forward, but did not rule on the validity of OCA’s argument.
