The scope of contamination from so-called “forever chemicals” may be broader than previously thought.
According to the EPA, new data shows that PFAS compounds have been leaching from storage containers into at least one mosquito pesticide.
The additional concern is the potential contamination of other chemicals stored in those containers, then used on crops destined for our dinner tables. The discovery could bring new strength to environmental groups’ argument over the chemical’s use.
Under the Biden administration’s campaigned environmental plans, PFAS should be designated as a hazardous substance and solidify enforceable limits for it in the Drinking Water Act.
