Wisconsin’s first state wolf hunt since 2014 has been called off.
The Natural Resources Board set a quota of 200 wolves last week and 119 have been harvested by the public. The remaining 81 wolves have been allocated as part of tribal treaty rights.
The hunt began on Monday and reached half of the quota within 24 hours. The department had wanted to wait until the fall to hold the hunt, but a judge forced them to proceed before the end of the month.
