Midwest farmers will most likely have early to average planting dates this year.
However, they need to be prepared for a post-planting drought. That is according to USDA’s Midwest Climate Hub Director, Dennis Todey.
He says that recent and upcoming rainfall might delay some planting in Missouri and into the Ohio Valley. Meanwhile, Wisconsin and Michigan are experiencing abnormally dry conditions and are on track to an early to an average start.
He encourages Iowa, Minnesota, and westward farmers to be proactive.
