Senator Chuck Grassley announced this morning that he will reintroduce the bipartisan bill to increase transparency in cattle pricing.
“Tomorrow, I will be reintroducing my bill from last Congress with Senator Tester mandating 50 percent of negotiating cash trade for the cattle,” the Senator states. “The aid that Congress offered via the USDA and the COVID bills that we passed last year provided over $7 billion dollars in assistance to cattle producers.”
He says that this assistance is merely a band-aid and “to establish a fair cattle market for cattle producers, then real, vigorous price discovery is needed.”
