Now that pandemic relief is on its way to farmers, Congress is turning its attention to a massive infrastructure bill.
The $3 trillion dollar bill could be the defining legislation of the Biden administration. It could bring much relief to crumbling bridges and roads in rural America, but the ranking member of the House Ag Committee says that it will be a hard sell, after spending trillions on COVID.
Represented G.T. Thompson explains, "$1.9 trillion dollars in additional debt, with less than 9 percent of that going towards COVID relief, and it was framed as a COVID relief bill. So, I think that makes the discussion challenging.”
“Ranking member Thompson and I will be, after Easter, bringing together our rural development broadband hearing,” Rep. David Scott adds.
Scott hopes that the hearing will convince Republicans on the fence to get on board.
