The Department of Justice is pointing fingers at meatpackers, claiming they are at fault for COVID worker deaths.
The information came to light in new legal briefs filed in a federal appeals case.
The Justice Department claims that Tyson Foods was never instructed to keep its plants open in the early months of the pandemic. Tyson claims that it was acting under President Trump’s Defense Production Act with respect to food supply chain resources.
The action brought by worker families could have broad implications for other COVID-related lawsuits.
