USDA has a new video series spotlighting how feral swine damage agriculture.
The department’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service wants to educate the public and work with partners to control feral swine.
You can watch three videos on the topic, all with personal stories of damage.
Today, one farmer shares his personal experience with levee damage.
According to Hank Berdine with the Mississippi Levee Board, “When hogs come out of the woods and go rootin’ around, they’ll root up an area half as big as a football field in a couple of nights. It’s decimating the integrity of that levee. We’ve got to go in there after those hogs damage it and fix those areas because we cannot afford to go into flood situation-- we need areas like that.”
