U.S. beef exports could see a strong summer in the EU. While it has been a challenging year for exports, the U.S. Meat Export Federation says that it is optimistic about the future.
Europe’s interest in U.S. retail beef cuts will continue to expand, especially as the summer grilling season approaches.
According to Yuri Barutkin, “Summer is sacred for the Europeans-- barbeques, grilling outside. It’s almost like a religion here in Europe. So, we definitely hope that it will stimulate much higher sales at retail.”
The export federation reported U.S. beef accounted for just 6 percent of the EU’s total beef imports last year.
