Biden’s budget proposal means more for USDA

Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack is reacting to President Biden’s budget proposal. The budget released late last week calls for $28 billion dollars in discretionary spending for the USDA.

That is a 17 percent increase.

Vilsack says that it gives USDA a new set of tools to address urgent challenges like racial injustice, climate change, and hunger. It calls for expanding rural and tribal broadband, which Vilsack says will create high-paying jobs.

Also, it will boost research and development at USDA, which he says will help American farmers compete in world markets.
