A state of emergency has been declared in southern Arkansas, where heavy rains have flooded soybean, corn, and rice fields. These challenges have the potential to significantly reduce farm revenue.
Arkansas Farm Bureau economist, Mark Lambert speaks with RFD-TV’s own John Jenkinson on current conditions, what producers are facing, and what to keep an eye on moving forward.
“It’s not looking very good... potential losses could potentially reach $310 million dollars, and that would be just where you have loss of acreage, loss of yield coupled with high commodity prices and you’re looking at, just straight to the farming sector, just an instant blow right there-- $310 million dollars. That doesn’t include your fieldwork, any inputs, it’s just straight-up loss of the gross revenue there to farmers,” Lambert states
