Infrastructure deal has been reached

President Biden says that an infrastructure deal has been reached.

It is about half the amount the White House originally wanted and includes $1.2 trillion dollars in spending over eight years.

Here are a few highlights for ag:

  • $312 billion dollars is slated for transportation projects like roads, bridges, airports, and railways

  • $16 billion dollars will go to waterway projects, including port upgrades

  • Rural broadband made the cut as well with $65 billion in funding.

Negotiators still have to decide how to pay for it all. The plan, in bill form, could be drafted by the end of next month.
