President Joe Biden says that the infrastructure package in Congress will benefit rural America.
He toured a transit garage in Wisconsin on the 65th anniversary of President Eisenhower signing the bill that created the highway system. Biden said the agreement forged in the Senate will be the largest investment in infrastructure since that bill.
He said that crumbling bridges are causing hardships for farmers.
According to the President, “More than 600 here in the state of Wisconsin, bridges have weight limits to prevent trucks from crossing. That means long detours for farmers heading to market. It’s more than just an inconvenience, it’s about safety as well.”
When talking about rural broadband, the President said no farmer should have to lose business because they do not have reliable internet.
