Shipping costs have reached a 13 year high. That means the global shipping industry is getting its biggest payday since 2008 as demand goes up.
The average cost to ship a “standard container” from Shanghai to New York has surpassed $10,000 dollars. In 2019, it was $2,500 dollars, but securing a late booking on the busiest route from China to the west coast could cost $20,000 dollars.
Just this week, the Ag Transportation Coalition sent a letter to the Biden administration, asking for emergency relief.
