Russia to ban exports of ammonium nitrate for the next two months

Beginning today, Russia will ban exports of ammonium nitrate for at least the next two months.

Officials say that this will give their domestic farmers enough supply through the spring planting season. Once that demand peaks around April 2nd, the leftover volume will be available for export.

This comes as the Commerce Department issued a preliminary finding that imports from Russia, Trinidad and Tobago were sold at below-market prices, and Russia announced plans to build a new fertilizer factory in Angola.
