This month’s Consumer Price Index showed a slowdown in inflation with the largest contributor being a decline in gas prices. In a surprise move, they are down for the second straight week.
Analysts with GasBuddy found the national price of gasoline came down $0.10 from a week ago, which comes out to around $3.40 per gallon. The national average is down $0.23 from last month and $0.18 off a year ago.
Patrick De Haan with GasBuddy says it is one of the larger weekly drops he has seen in a while, especially at the start of the summer driving season. He says with these numbers, Americans will spend around $425 million less per week on gas than this time last year.
