Hurricane Laura is now a Category 3 storm and gaining strength as it looms along the Gulf Coast. Farmers brace for the threat to crops still standing.
Texas Farm Bureau director, John Griffith speaks with RFD-TV’s own John Jenkinson on the expected impact of the storm and what preparations are being made. “Along the coastline, a lot of our producers and members run beef cattle, whether stockers or cow-calf operations, but in those areas they’re very prone to flooding; so, in preparation a lot of producers have tried to move their cattle to higher locations, to higher grounds,” Griffith notes. “This area is prone to flooding... so we’ve learned some lessons from those previous hurricanes to kind of be on the prevention for situations such as this.”
