The storm Eta weakened last night to a tropical depression. There is still days of devastation in store for Central America, before it heads towards the U.S. Coast.
USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey says that this storm could impact Central American agriculture.
Eta was a rapidly intensifying hurricane earlier this week. It became a strong or high-end Category 4 storm and that system, although weakening a bit before landfall in Nicaragua, has the potential to be an agricultural and humanitarian disaster across parts of Central America
According to the National Hurricane Center, last night Eta held winds up to 35 mph.
