There is a new tick species that cattle producers need to pay special attention to and it is no bigger than a sesame seed.
The Asian longhorn tick has only been in the U.S. for a couple of years. The tiny insect can cause stress and transmit diseases that can cause anemia and reproductive issues in cattle. It has been found in the eastern and southern portions of the country and standard tick products should work to control it.
If you identify one, you are asked to call your state animal health department.
