More corn acres could mean more biofuel supplies like E15, but a deal to make year-round sales permanent recently failed.
Renewable Fuels Association’s Geoff Cooper says those sales are needed for the extra corn in the bins.
“The quickest way to increase demand for corn and value for corn is to let more of it go into the ethanol industry. And for that to happen, we need to have the marketplace allow more ethanol into the fuel supply. So, that’s where E15 becomes critically important.”
This is a situation Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley has been following for a while. He says despite recent good ethanol export numbers, more will be needed for projects like E15 and sustainable jet fuel.
