USDA’s electronic eat tag rule goes into effect in a little more than a month. One Texas producer says his group has gone a step further to ensure the safety of the industry.
“Within the last year, we brought to our organization the Disease Traceability Committee, and it’s made up not only of our members and industry peers but it’s made up of those that own and operate markets in Texas. We’re working together not to impact the speed of commerce. And that is something that our markets, our producers, and those buyers are concerned about, and rightfully so. We don’t want to slow down that speed of commerce, but we also want to make sure that USDA is not impacting the cost associated with doing so,” said Carl Ray Polk of the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.
USDA’s electronic ear tag rule takes effect on November 5th.
