Adding solar to farmland is still a viable option, one group says

There have been many discussions around solar panels taking up space on agriculture land. However, one company says the two can still be a viable option.

“Some areas it could be that we want to do crops, some areas that want to do like grazing or let it fallow and like a pollinator garden area. But each part of the country kind of has its own pros and cons that you’ve really got to weigh. So if you’re like a rancher, then you can continue ranching on the land and it went from that, given that we don’t have to pay for fuel and mowing like throughout the summer, and then the rancher also gives the opportunity to, you know, let the sheep graze,” said Nathan Durfee.

He says sheep are looking to be the best option compared to other animals. Goats were looked at originally, but they found issues with the animals climbing on the panels.
