The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is working in collaboration with Mexico to protect cattle from the foreign animal disease New World Screwworm. This has resulted in a temporary suspension of live cattle imports from Mexico.
