Growing food is a major part of Ashley Rouse’s lifestyle and has been since the beginning. Now she works for a non-profit called HealthMPowers teaching students in Atlanta how to garden.
“I think that it’s important for kids to know where their food comes from, just as much as it is for them to understand how to prepare it for themselves,” said Ashley.
Next generation host Lexi Marek joins Ashley at a South Atlanta Boys and Girls Club for a small group gardening session. Ashley assigns tasks like watering, weeding and pest management to her students while informing them what it takes to create a blooming batch of food and flowers.
