Bayer subsidy, P4 will pay millions due to a lawsuit over a phosphate mine

A Bayer subsidy will pay millions of dollars after settling a lawsuit over phosphate mining in Idaho.

A district court last year found the Bureau of Land Management’s approval of a phosphate mine was void because it violated other environmental policies.
The company, P4, will dish out $5 million to a fund for restoring sage grouse habitats.

Another $2.5 million will go toward land for habitat connectivity, and another $300,000 will pay for sage grouse surveys.
