After Hurricane Idalia made landfall, its remnants quickly moved across parts of the South before heading back to the Atlantic.
Agronomists who were watching its impact say for the most part, what moved through the Carolina’s was a blessing in disguise.
“For the North Carolina guys and the upper South Carolina, this is probably more beneficial than it was detrimental. It helped, it gave us needed water. We finished the cotton out. These soybeans really needed water. It’s not as hard to fill parsing corn for a few days, but other than that, it was a good thing for us,” said Zack Webb.
For producers who did have damage, there are risk management options out there. However, those losses need to be reported as soon as possible.
