Cattle groups say the industry needs a Farm Bill, and it needs it now

The cattle industry has seen its share of struggles this year. Just like the rest of the ag community, it is in a holding pattern waiting for a new Farm Bill.

“When we look at the whole of government and the speed and the pace that they work it, it’s difficult to get anything moved. We’ve worked hard for several different pieces of legislation. We’ve tried to get some things included in the Farm Bill, but when you have no end line or no end game of when you’re going to get there, it’s very difficult to make those priorities known and get them in front of the people that they need to be. Because we don’t know when the end line is. So that farm bill needs to get done, we can’t continue to operate in business if we operate it the way that the government operates. I don’t think that we would be in business very long,” said Justin Tupper.

Tupper says they will not stop fighting for their ranchers. They are still getting their priorities out to lawmakers and hope they can get it worked into the new legislation.
