Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow has announced the framework for the Rural Prosperity and Food Security Act, drawing from over 100 bipartisan bills to shape the upcoming 2024 Farm Bill.
This collaborative effort, cultivated over two years, addresses critical issues including foreign farmland ownership, rural community support, farm safety nets, and SNAP adjustments.
Ranking member of the Senate Ag Committee John Bozman says that he and the chairwoman have had several conversations about getting their priorities on paper. He will be working to get feedback on today’s release and says that he remains optimistic a Farm Bill can get passed this year.
He released a statement that reads in part:
“Considering the Farm Bill only comes around every five years, we must ensure we do right by our farmers and make meaningful investments in the risk management tools they rely on to weather the storm.”
