After years of requests, changes are coming to milk pricing. USDA has published its final rule, but it could take time to see any changes.
The Ag Marketing Service says the final rule iss similar to the one released back in July. USDA will restore the Class 1 Higher-Of Formula. The current Formula is part of the 2018 Farm Bill, and dairy leaders say it costs milk producers some serious money, with estimates at more than $1 billion.
Officials say the new formula will take some time to implement because USDA has to hold referendums in each of the 11 regions.
