Dock workers and some of the largest ag shipping ports have just days to find common ground before a possible strike that could cripple the U.S. supply chain.
No major developments have been made on either side. If no deal is reached, a strike could begin on October 1st, bringing ports along the East and Gulf coasts to a standstill. To prepare, some companies are shifting goods to the West Coast, and some are even loading products onto planes just to keep products moving. The five largest ports in question moved around $2.5 billion worth of goods each day last month.
More than 50 ag groups sent a letter to President Biden this week, asking him to act if an agreement cannot be reached.
