Conservation groups aren’t happy with the stopgap spending bill passage

Conservation groups are disappointed with the final stopgap bill, which extends federal funding through March, and a third extension of the 2018 Farm Bill.

However, not everyone is happy with the plan. The National Association of Conservation Districts is disappointed, saying the package did not include IRA funds for conservation. The group’s president says it reflects Congress’ increasing inability to negotiate and pass common-sense solutions.

The American Farmland Trust echoed similar complaints, arguing conservation programs are key to helping producers remain profitable.
