The reigning 2013 WPRA World Champion barrel racer Sherry Cervi owns numerous barrel racing records and four WPRA world championships. The Marana, Ariz., native teamed up with her No. 1 mount, MP Meter My Hay (“Stingray”), to set a new NFR record in 2013 for the fastest aggregate on 10 runs of 138.15 seconds. She also became the fifth woman in history to place in all 10 rounds of the NFR while earning $155,899 -- a new NFR earnings record. She is a career earner of nearly $3 million and has qualified for an amazing 16 NFRs.

Cervi is the product of a rich rodeo heritage with her father, Mel Potter, a former NFR qualifying calf roper, and her mother, Wendy, a past NFR barrel racer.

Cervi’s mount Stingray, by PC Frenchmans Hayday, and out of the mare Miss Meter Jet, by Bar Tonto Jet, is a product of her parents’ breeding program. Cervi has earned two world titles aboard the mare. “Words can’t describe how special she is,” Cervi commented in an interview on RFD-TV. “I’m looking forward to running her in Cowboys Stadium.”

Known for her work ethic, when Cervi is not on the road, she can be found training young barrel prospects and has a passion for animals, large and small. Her commitment to serve as a positive role model for the next generation of champions has led to her involvement in her namesake event, the Sherry Cervi West Coast Youth Championship Race, which awards numerous saddles and offers added money to youth barrel racers 17 and under each spring in Ceres, Calif.
