After four weeks of falling numbers, crop conditions appear to be on the rise.
This week’s Crop Progress Report shows some small gains, and incoming wet weather could help give fields some much needed relief.
The 2024 corn crop is rated 68 percent good to excellent, which is a one point gain from last week. USDA data shows 24 percent is silking, which is ahead of the five-year average by 10 points.
Soybeans are also 68 percent in the top category, also seeing a one point gain. 34 percent of that crop is blooming, which is also ahead of the five-year average of 28 percent.
Spring wheat saw a three point gain from last week, coming in at 75 percent good to excellent. 59 percent was headed, just a point below the five-year average.
The Eastern Corn Belt has seen some dry conditions lately. However, the remnants of Hurricane Beryl could bring some much needed rain to those areas.
