USDA is giving dairy farmers an additional five weeks to enroll in the Dairy Margin Coverage program.
Right now, enrollment is less than half of what it was for last year’s program. This year, the Department added a supplemental program for small and mid-sized programs. The new deadline is March 25th. Last year, USDA paid out more than $1 billion to dairy farmers to help offset low margins and high feed costs.
