As reported by WSMV, Dolly Parton recently shared some advice for “divided” America.
Appearing on NBC’s Today Show yesterday, the iconic country music singer had this to say: “I think we’ve just become so divided, ’cause people just seem to love to hate. You know? This is the Christmas season coming up, but we need to carry that Christmas spirit of peace on Earth, and loving one another – we need to carry that into the new year. And Lord knows, I hope next year is better than this one!”
Dolly’s first holiday album in 30 years, A Holly Dolly Christmas, was released this past August, and features duets with celebrities such as Jimmy Fallon, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, and Randy Parton (Dolly’s younger brother).
Mentioning that another Christmas album had been on her to-do list for quite a while, she explained how 2020 provided the right opportunity to pull it together: “I had the time to do it, since we had kind of all holed up at home. So I started writing some of these original songs, and I gathered up some more of the old classics, and grabbed a bunch of friends, and we just kind of went for it.”
The 74 year old also offered this bit of wisdom: “We can’t save the world, but we can save the world we’re living in. Maybe I’m dreaming, but I don’t think so.”
