An EPA advisory committee has just made recommendations for a new Waters of the U.S. rule.
The committee says the rule should be in compliance with the Clean Water Act, and the Supreme Court precedent that limits federal jurisdiction over bodies of water. The rule should have a clear definition that farmers and ranchers can easily interpret. It should also exempt ag features like farm ditches, stock ponds, and other small, isolated waters.
The committee also says that the EPA should reconsider the roundtable process so all stakeholders have a voice.
UPDATE: The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association said that it supports the recommendations.
