U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) meteorologists say flooding in the Midwest is set to continue following a recent heavy rain event and could lead to major crop losses.
USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey expects corn and soybean to be negatively impacted, with hardest-hit areas anticipating major crop losses. He says that future flooding is expected downstream as well.
“Over the next couple of weeks, we will be watching the rain from this big flood event moving into ever larger rivers. So, that water is starting to reach into the main stem Missouri and main stem Mississippi Rivers.”

Rippey added that pockets of moderate to major flooding are also forecasted.
