Wildfires in California are threatening the survival of giant sequoia trees.
The USDA’s Forest Service is taking emergency action to protect these towering forests. It is initiating Emergency Fuel Reduction which includes cutting and removing small trees, prescribed burns, and pulling dead and dry material away from the sequoias.
That will take place over nearly 14,000 acres of forest land to protect 12 giant sequoia groves.
