Drought is causing a spike in crop diseases for an Indiana farmer.
Ben Crone told Brownfield Ag News that his crops are starting to show southern rust and tar spot.
According to the latest USDA Crop Progress Report, Indiana corn is rated 70% good to excellent, while soybeans are rated 69% good to excellent.
Despite the ratings, Crone says that they need more moisture.
With his farm seeing little to no rain in recent weeks, he has even contemplated turning on irrigation.
