Major freight rail companies issued a statement this week that could put us closer to a rail strike.
They publicly rejected the Teamsters’ latest request to add paid sick time to their recent bargaining. Six of the 12 railroad unions have approved tentative agreements with the railroads, but all of them have to ratify the contracts to avoid a strike.
The unions agreed to hold off on a strike until next month, but if both sides cannot agree on contracts, Congress could intervene and impose terms on the workers.
