While Marissa was born with Down’s Syndrome, that challenge never stopped her from being involved in her school and her community. When it came to being a part of the FFA, she followed in her sister’s footsteps and raised wave petunias from her family’s home located in their small town of Pleasantville, Iowa. One day her mom had an idea: to literally grow the flower business and start a greenhouse. Two remodels and a few years later, the greenhouse holds various flowers and produce that is purchased by loyal customers located in central Iowa – and Marissa is a key component of the whole operation.
