Another state has now confirmed a case of High Path Avian Flu in dairy cattle, and the National Veterinary Services Laboratories is working on samples from other states holding cattle with similar symptoms.
USDA has verified the presence of the virus in a Michigan dairy herd. Those cattle had recently traveled from Texas, which was a state confirmed with the virus last week along with Kansas. More testing is being done on samples from New Mexico, Idaho, and Texas.
No animals have been culled yet, and the FDA recommends that the industry refrain from manufacturing or selling unpasteurized milk or cheese products from cows showing signs of the illness.
