Apple picking might soon get a little easier thanks to researchers at Michigan State University.
They have created a robotic picker through a partnership with USDA. Professors there say the idea came about after multiple seasons dealing with a lack of workers. The machine uses artificial intelligence to sense, select, and pick the best apples in the orchard, but efficiency is still being worked out.
The robot can pick around one ton of apples each day, whereas a human can pick as much as six tons per day.
