Nancy Blanchard’s journey as a FarmHer began when she saw some Nigerian Dwarf goats on television. With some backup from her significant other, who had experience raising cattle, she decided to go out on a limb, and soon the black angus cattle on their 40 acre Iowa ranch were joined by a herd of the adorable, mini-sized goats. A herd of sheep followed soon thereafter.
Coco’s Ranch raises their animals in a caring, holistic environment, and the meat (beef and lamb) is sold directly to a loyal customer base who are concerned to know first hand where their food comes from. The animals are pasture raise through most of the year, with supplemental grain feeding during the winter. As another way to share the joy of her animals with others, Nancy has hosted goat yoga classes for four consecutive summers now, and the response has been enthusiastic!
Nancy has a deep desire to encourage and inspire others to follow their dreams, regardless of their age or prior experience (she was 45 when she launched her goat enterprise), as she seeks to give back to the community and to make the best use of the resources at her disposal with ingenuity and hard work.
